Outstanding Graubünden Artists

We are as passionate about art and architecture as we are about modern hospitality and gastronomy. Guests will find beautiful works by contemporary artists on display throughout the building. You will find paintings, pictures, and photographs by renowned Graubünden artists including Not Vital, Matias Spescha, Bryan Cyril Thurston, Lukas Rohner and Gaudenz Signorell in the hotel rooms, the restaurant and the salon.

The guest lounges feature photographs by Albert Steiner, who coined the early postcard image of the Upper Engadin, and who is considered one of the most outstanding Swiss photographers of the early 20th century.

ARCHITECTURE

Modern Interpretation of the Engadin House

The famous Engadin architectural firm of Hans-Jörg Ruch was commissioned for the redesign in 2002 and for further conversions and extensions up until today. In collaboration with the Zürich Creative studio Kessler Kessler, the team at the Hotel Krone created a bespoke and unique design.

Ruch is an expert in the traditional Engadin style of construction and is a specialist in the conversion of Engadin farmhouses and merchants’ houses dating back many centuries. He combines in-depth knowledge and respect for tradition with minimised modern design and state-of-the-art technology. The finishing touches include solid native woods such as Swiss stone pine, larch, and maple.
